My Momma Katie
To many people, she was a mother, a sister, a Grammy, a GG, and a friend. But to me, she was so much more. She was my whole world.
I was her only child, and for most of my life, it was always just me and her. She raised me by herself, and she gave me everything she had. We may not have had a perfect life, but we had each other—and that meant everything.
Mom was the oldest of six children, and I think that says a lot about the woman she became. She was strong, determined, caring, and always willing to take care of the people she loved.
She had so many talents. Mom was a fabulous seamstress. She could take a piece of fabric and turn it into something beautiful. She was a crafter and a decorator, and she had a gift for making things special. She could create beauty wherever she was.
But her greatest gift was loving her family.
She was Grammy to Taylor, Heather, and Jarrett, and GG to Maddisyn, Waylon, and EJ. Those children brought so much joy to her life. And, of course, we can't forget her beloved Dig Lil Bit, who was so special to her.
Most importantly, Mom loved Jesus. Her faith was a part of who she was, and I find comfort knowing that the woman I loved so dearly is now in His presence.
There are so many things I could say about my mother, but the simplest thing is probably the most important:
She loved me, and I loved her.
She was there when I needed her. She was the person I could come home to. She was my mother, but she was also my constant companion, my family, and my home.
Losing her leaves a space in my life that no one else can fill. I will miss her voice, her laugh, her creativity, her love, and all the little things that made her Mom.
But I will carry her with me.
I will carry her in the things she taught me, in the memories we made, in the family she loved so much, and in the love she gave me all my life.
Mom, thank you for raising me, loving me, believing in me, and for making it through life with me—just the two of us.
I hope you knew how deeply you were loved.
I love you, Mom.
A bushel a peck and a hug around the neck.
We will keep making memories
Until we meet again, rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
