Biography
Deacon Nathaniel Golden Sr. was born on July 11, 1931, to the late Luther Golden Sr., and Maggie Bryant Golden, in Marianna, Florida, Jackson County. Nathaniel was baptized at an early age, a man of Faith, he exhibited this everywhere is went. He was affectionately known to family and friends as “Man” he was pleasantly known, by one of his nicknames. Nathaniel attended the Jackson County Training School and the Union Grove High School, in Marianna, FL, where graduated and completed his education.
Nathaniel met and married the love of his life, Vera M. Clark Golden, on April 14, 1951, to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Annie, and Sharron Golden. Later, Nathaniel and Vera moved their family from Buckhorn to the south, settling in the
City of Clearwater, Florida.
Throughout the years, their family continues to grow with three more children Nathaniel Jr, Geanisia, and Deritangian. Nathaniel, worked as a
Foreman for the City of Clearwater, where he faithfully served for twenty-eight years before retiring. In addition to his career with the city, he operated a lawn service business
on the side, demonstrating his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
He always encouraged others to come to the Lord Jesus and would travel all around the community picking up the children in his white Dodge truck, to take them to Sunday
School. Afterwards, he would stop at the convenience store and buy everyone whatever they wanted for a snack, on the drive back home.
As head of his family, he taught his household the importance of prayer. The children would pray every night before bed, as well as he and his wife. The children knew to tiptoe
past their parent’s bedroom door, as “mama and daddy” were praying.
Nathaniel was a faithful and dedicated Deacon at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, South
Clearwater, for many, many years, where the Rev. Leroy Hardy Jr., is the
Pastor. Nathaniel peacefully passed onto eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 12, 2026, at his home with his family. He will be sorely missed by his wife, children and all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ether Golden Smith; Luther Golden, Jr.; Annie Nee Golden Calhoun; Georgia Golden Herbert, and Robert Allen Golden.
Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife for seventy-five years Vera Marie Clark Golden; and his loving children: Annie Delois Scott; Sharron Golden Jackson; Geanisia Maria Golden; Nathaniel Golden, Jr. (Cynthia); Deritangian Golden Taylor; His brother and sister-in-law: Frank Golden “Jayball” and Lucille Golden; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives, many church family and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith.

Our beloved grandfather was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was rooted in faith, love, and service to others. He was a God-fearing man who faithfully shared the love of Jesus with his family, teaching us that Christ is the foundation upon which our family stands.
His wisdom, kindness, strength, and unwavering faith touched generations and left a legacy that will continue to guide us for years to come. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in the values he instilled, the memories he gave us, and the promise of eternal life through Christ.
